My own feelings are that the roads are poorly built. Roads should be build in such a way that water runs off them, yet we see everywhere that small lakes and ponds appear in the same places every time it rains. I´m not an expert but I do know that water weakens our roads.
Dirt and stones are also a cause of road destruction, again, we see it in the same places every time it rains, ripples of mud and rocks washed down from side roads and driveways having exactly the same effect as potholes and causing traffic to slow.
Some say that the roads are poorly built so that the contractors, ie Windward Roads and Koop, two companies that have close ties with several commissioners, can be assured of regular work. I don´t fully subscribe to this view, but I can certainly see why some people have it.
