The cost

Related to this pothole story I am wondering is the government is calculating the amount of taxes they are missing out on when we are all standing in the traffic jams. As a business owner I have customers to attend to and as long as I am in traffic I cannot invoice the hours (at least not to the customer, maybe to the government) and therefore do not pay any taxes for these hours. Imagine that 50% of all people in traffic are on the clock; imagine the funds they are missing out on! Not to mention the fact that we are running our engines without going anywhere; senseless pollution.
I totally agree that the current road condition is really bad and creating an enormous amount of traffic, danger and frustration. The traffic jam from Simpson Bay nowadays starts at around 2.30pm and lasts till 7pm due to the growing amount of cars and the current road issues. The situation is caused by potholes and general road conditions like at the "square-about" in Cole Bay (not to mention the fact that we all have difficulties understanding how this square-about is handled).
Now with high season around the corner and a growing amount of rental cars being on the road we will be stuck from 7am till 7pm. Tourists are complaining about traffic and we have to avoid loosing tourists because of something simple like road conditions.
