Hello from Anguilla

Our Chief Minister's name is Osbourne Fleming. He is also the Minister of Labour. According to reliable reports, Mr. Fleming stated that the dozen or more Mexicans were working at the site illegally. He than seems to have ordered that work be stopped and the piles be removed, so someone commented that he was permitting Dolphin Discovery to use illegal labour for this purpose.

Mr. Fleming is also the Minister of Planning. After the Anguilla National Trust wrote the excellent letter you've posted, the Principal Planning Officer is reported to have informed both his immediate supervisor and his Minister that his department had approved the proposal because no objections had been received! We are waiting to see what happens to a department head who (if the stories we hear are true) lied to his bosses. Most probably, we will deplore this until there's something more interesting to deplore, and then it will be forgotten. Don't blame me if I continue to wonder if the Planner got paid off.
