Incredible, Isn't it?

I have recently been searching for land in St. Maarten to build a home.
As someone born there and wanting to return to contribute to my island, I thought the internet would serve as a great avenue and informative source to obtain anything I needed. What was I thinking?!! Like you've stated, these realtors have not considered anything of the devaluation of the newcomers' home or hotel. Although properties appreciate within a couple of years, these dwellings definitely will not do so.
Sadly enough, the realtors are not concerned with this, they are just caught up in making their millions off of the land. What strikes me as most interesting is the exhorbant figures that are being requested for these parcels of land!
My eye has been on Dawn Beach for several months now, and I must state that the realtors have gone above and beyond their way to ensure that locals will not be able to afford the properties they are selling, thereby opening the market for more investors to waltz into St. Maarten with their montrosities.
Does government ever take these things into consideration?
Another thing that has struck me as quite absurd is the fact that these investors build on the beaches and limit the public's access to the ocean front.
Another parcel on the western side of Dawn Beach is up for grabs as well. The problem with this is that it has been zoned for Commericial use only! The entire property will consume the beach and limit the public's access once again.
By the way, how many five star hotels do we need on our tiny island??
