There is a video on youtube about global climate change and why we should take measures to fight it. It is a must see for everybody especially for those still in doubt or denial. Take a couple of minutes and watch this guy explain his argument to you. It is solid as a rock. Forward the video to others. It is time well spent. Click here to go to the video.

The world wide web has stories everywhere about this mystery investor buying positions on the stock market that could yield billions IF the market will crash totally before the end of September. If the market does not drop, the entity or individual involved stands to lose over $1 billion just for engaging in these contracts! Read about it here.

I find this comment from Ludmila de Weever too valuable for it to disappear between the regular comments so I decided to turn her response into a short separate blog entry and have it "front-paged" for a while. Credit where credit is due.

This past week there was a very interesting article about the writer of the emails in the House of cards post. The writer is apparently a Mr. Scott Klion, a wanted fraudster and scam artist who lived on St. Maarten for several years in Dawn Beach. The Today writer appears to have concluded that the allegations made by Klion/Tucker are false, the article is clearly meant to destroy his character and it does a good job.
But, rather than convincing us here that the allegations made are false, it in fact does the opposite and convinces us even more that most of them are very likely true, and so does every week that goes by without any report or information about an investigation into the allegations. As we have said before, if only to clear the air and prove them false.

Last week we published the contents of two emails we recieved, emails that were sent far and wide. Two more emails that followed detailed allegations against Sheriff Security and a local attorney.
Some appear willing and even quite eager to dismiss these allegations as the made up stories of a suspect character, some say he is wanted by the CIA or FBI, some say he is a crook too, involved in and wanted for his own sketchy dealings here on St. Maarten and elsewhere. No one has yet provided any information to verify any of this, however, the writer of the emails has provided plenty of information which can be easily investigated and verified or disproved, if the police force and prosecutors office really wanted to.

Below you will find two emails that were sent to SXM PE on Tuesday (26th June) evening, they were also sent to large crowd of politicians, govt officials and media organisations throughout the Caribbean, Holland and the US.
The emails detail accounts of fraud and crimes by an immigration officer, her husband and her sister, who happens to be a police officer. We have decided to publish the emails below (with names initials) without further comment. We are not interested in who it came from, but rather in what they say, that the police force are avoiding investigating their own.

Last week when Roy made his presentation to the IC on the water deal, the Today ran a headline announcing, with a kind of finality, that Roy had Sunk Enerserve.. Sort of like a pirate perhaps?
What Roy had to say included many errors, half truths and of course his own style and brand of BS.. We'll point out some of those errors, half truths and BS below and we are also going to take a good look at Roy and his record as commissioner. There is one word that can describe him accurately. Incompetent.

On Monday, 20th of May, the Water Contract with Air-Fin will be discussed and debated in the Island Council. At present we are unsure if it will be live on the radio, but we will let you know if it is and what time when we find out. Below there is a roundup and look at the latest news articles on this subject and some further examination of the financial aspects of the deal. Let's hope the Opposition have done their homework.

The bad news is that none of us have really had the time to study and write about the contract Roy wants to sign with Air-Fin. The good news is we were sent a copy in PDF format which makes it alot easier to share with you all.
You will find the contract at the link below, unfortunately several of the regular writers here will be busy and off island this week so we can't do a full report on it, none of us are lawyers anyway. But we do know there are some smart people out there reading this blog site and perhaps some of them will offer up their opinions on this deal, anonymously if they wish. The previous post about Pinocchio Roy can be found here.

The news item in the Today on Wednesday about a top politician being questioned by the police has many rumors flying around the island. From our own sources we have been informed that there are two top politicians recently questioned, RM and LL. One of whom was interviewed, apparently, very early in the morning, like 3-4am time.
How much of this is true we cannot say for certain, the source is a good one, but this blog post is for those who have reliable information and wish to share it here. As news comes available we will post it below.

Like an immature and silly man that he is, Roy Marlin announced last Friday that he would not be held responsible if the island experiences water shortages due to his new water plant proposal being held up. It's a classic and obvious attempt to defect and avoid blame by a man with something to hide. This 'deal' is bad for St. Maarten and its people, in fact it's a rip-off in our opinion.
We here at SXM PE have been doing a little investigating and what we have discovered will shock you, or should, this is SXM after all. Despite what he says, Roy is responsible, he is the Commissioner over GEBE and Public Works and his DP party have been in government for 48 of the last 50 years. He is like King Midas with a difference, everything he touches turns into a disaster for SXM.

Election time is over and the dust has settled down. Many writers on this site are noticeably upset about the vote buying programs that the two largest parties ran. Allegedly that is, because nobody has posted hard evidence or personal experiences. And unless some brave soul stands up to shows us otherwise it will all just remain hot air. Case closed for now. A case that should not be closed yet is the GGV "donation" to commissioner Laveist; The most blatant example in SXM's history how to bribe a government official and get away with it. SXM Pride informed us that the Mullet Pond coalition, consisting of Epic, Oceancare, SXM Pride and Nature Foundation aims to protect the Mullet Pond from development as one of the last remaining Mangrove colonies in the Simpson Bay Lagoon.
They have made a video called The Last Stand which can be found on YouTube, it shows the beauty of the Mullet Pond as it still is. Make sure to watch it and leave a comment and rating.

One of the core principles of sustainable development is the "Polluter Pays" Principle. It is likely to be unknown to the Sint Maarten politicians and wannabe politicians so I take the liberty to explain what it is about. It may come in handy later.
The principles recognizes that the polluter should pay for any environmental damage created, and that the burden of proof in demonstrating that a particular technology, practice or product is safe should lie with the developer, not the general public. The principle was also adopted by the European Parliament and Council and is laid down in a guideline that must be followed by all member states of the EU.

“Public officials must at all times be intensely scrutinized, to the point where it becomes a hindrance, because -generally spoken- not everybody can handle the affluence of power that is bestowed upon them”.
Judge Bob Wit of the Joint Court of the Netherlands Antilles.
This quote is in the preface of a book published in 2004 about corruption in Holland. The book “Bouwbeerput” (translates as “construction – cesspit”) is written by two Dutch journalists about civil servants and politicians who were bribed and treated to casino visits, whorehouses visits and expensive trips by the major construction companies competing to get government jobs. The 379 page book also exposes Dutch construction companies practicing corruption and fraud in the Netherlands Antilles on a large scale.

The SXM PE Team confirmed today that they would be joining the race in the upcoming election. We don't have a party or color, we won't be entering any candidates and we won't be on the ballots. We do have T-Shirts but they aren't free, if it's a chicken leg or ribs you seek then you can find out where the best are on TTOL. We have no plans to hold free concerts, and we have no cement.
If you love St. Maarten, if it is in your heart, and if your heart is aching, then it's time for you to get involved in creating change. We're going to tell you a little more about our campaign plans below, but more important, we're going to tell you what you can do to help. The choice is yours, and that's all it is, a choice.
If you want to, you truly have the power to make a difference.
